Joseph O. Anderson

Joseph O. Anderson was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. Joseph came to Washington, DC in 1986 to attend Howard University where he studied chemistry. He met his wife, Maria in 1993. They were married in 1996 at the Schrader Lane church in Nashville, TN. Joseph was baptized into Christ in 1995 at the Southeast church, and later attended the Beltway and Prince George’s congregations where he served as teacher and director of educational programs. The family came to Silver Spring congregation in 2009. Joseph served as a deacon from 2011 to 2015 and has worked very closely with the Youth and Adult Development ministries. Joseph’s professional career includes supporting the US Department of Defense in areas of Emergency Preparedness and Counter-Terrorism. He currently works on medical countermeasures to prevent, mitigate, and respond to chemical warfare exposure. The Andersons have two daughters, Cameron and Chloe.

Cristobal Portillo

Cristobal Portillo is in the construction industry. He and his wife Rosa, are natives of El Salvador and have three children Wendy, Jairo, and Romeo. Cristobal has served as a deacon at Silver Spring since 1995 and is a board member of Camp WaMaVa.

Floyd M. Williamson

Floyd M. Williamson

Floyd M. Williamson has served at the Silver Spring church of Christ as the pulpit minister since October 2012. His wife, Isabelle C. is a leader in the ladies program and teaches ladies classes. Floyd and Isabelle C. were married in the summer of 1977, while he was serving as a summer personal-worker at the Sunset Road church of Christ, Burlington, NJ. They have two adult married sons and six grandchildren.

Floyd became a Christian in 1970 at Camp WaMaVa while attending the SE church of Christ, Washington DC. He has served as a missionary in Gothenburg, Sweden; missionary-in-residence in Memphis, TN (1981-1992); an evangelist in Oswego, NY (1992-2000); and a pulpit minster in Oxon Hill, MD (2000-2012). Besides graduating from Northeastern Christian Jr. College and Oklahoma Christian University, Floyd has completed an M.A.R. and M.Div. from the Harding School of Theology, Memphis, TN and a D.Min. from the Howard University School of Divinity, Washington DC.

 

Elmer Pacheco

Elmer Pacheco is our Hispanic evangelist.

Elmer and his wife, Jenny, and their two sons, Dámaris and Caleb, arrived at the Silver Spring Church of Christ in August 2003. Before moving here, they were ministering in English at the Church of Christ in Lilly Dale, Indiana for five years.

Before that, they ministered in the Church of Christ of Gardens and in the missionary field of Huinala (Monterrey, Mexico) for three years.

Elmer graduated with a B.A. Licensed in General Ministry of Kentucky Christian University, and Jenny has a degree in Marketing. Jenny participates in teaching classes for children and classes for women.

Maureen “Kimm” McLean

Maureen “Kimm” McLean joined the office staff as an Office Assistant August 14, 2013. She is the daughter of Mary McLean. She is a member of College Park Church of Christ. She has an adult son. She has worked in the Medical and Mail fields. She attends the Wednesday evening Bible classes here at Silver Spring.

Wale Falodun

Akinwale Falodun was born in Nigeria. In the past, he served as a deacon in the Church of Christ of Silver Spring (SSCoC) with a short break. Wale and Ronke were married in 1993 and SSCoC has been their home congregation since 1993. They have been blessed with two children, Tomi and Tito.

Ricardo Guzmán

Ricardo Guzmán is of Salvadoran origin.  He placed membership with the Silver Spring Church of Christ in 2000, where he met his wife, Mirna. They got married in 2007. God has blessed them with a daughter Melissa and a son Ricardo Jr.

The Guzman family enjoys serving in the church and is involved in different ministries, such as, teaching, assisting with the projector / audio operations, organizing meals for church activities.  He also leads services and serves communion when needed. Brother Guzman says: “Our pleasure is to serve the Lord.”

Brandon Haygood

Brandon Haygood was baptized into Christ in 2003 at the Hampton Church of Christ (currently Peninsula Church of Christ) in Hampton, VA.  He came to the Silver Spring congregation in 2020.  Brother Haygood obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business from Norfolk State University, and Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  He married Kenyatta Haygood in 2014 in Hampton, VA at the American Theatre.  Brandon and Kenyatta have two children, son Harper and daughter Hope.  He currently works for NASA Headquarters as the Chief Learning Officer and Team Lead of Awards, Training and Performance Management.

Jerrold Mathis

Jerrold Mathis was born in Charleston, SC and attended college in Atlanta, GA. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Morehouse College along with a Bachelor of Arts. in Business Management and a Masters of Science in Education from Georgia State University. Jerrold and his wife (Sonja) are the parents of Jerrold II. Jerrold was baptized at the Silver Spring church of Christ and enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with fellow brethren. Jerrold is retired after 34 years in the Hotel Business at Marriott International.

Ken-Won Miller

Ken-Won Miller was born in Wilmington, Delaware.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Delaware State.  He was baptized at the District Heights Church of Christ in September 2010 after relocating to Prince George’s County, MD.  He and Kourtney began worshipping and serving at the Silver Spring congregation in the Fall of 2010 and married in April 2012.  Over the last decade, he has been active in the youth development ministry and serving as the congregational photographer for the church directory.  He has settled with his wife and two sons, Austin and Aaron in Bowie, MD.
