God has blessed us with His full and complete inspired Scriptures (Gal. 1:18-19; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:3-4). We are “…to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people” (Jude 1:3). We are commanded to study and seek to understand both the Old and New Testaments. In our study of Scripture, we use many tools to help us under-stand God’s Word better including world history. In the 400 years between the end of the OT until Jesus’ birth there were no inspired Scriptures written, yet there were numerous important historical events that occurred in the world leading up to Jesus’ earthly ministry. In this class, the goal is to examine these silent years in order to help better understand the New Testament and its relevance to our lives. The class will include world history and looking at some of the OT apocryphal books.
