The book of Joshua is a record of the Israelites conquest of the Promised Land and the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham. After the death of Moses and the 40 years in the wilderness, Joshua became the new leader of God’s people. The book is divided into two major sections: (1) Joshua leading the Israelites into victorious battles over the Canaanites and (2) the allotment of tribal lands as Israel became a new nation. One of the major themes in the book is not as much about the conquest of land but more about Israel’s faithfulness to God. The goal of this class is to grow in our faith by looking at the examples of Joshua and the Israelites, who defeated the enemy according to God’s plan, God’s timing, and God’s power.
